Distributed Printing Offers Quick ROI
Challenge
As North America’s leading exhibit system builder, this company
provides tradeshow and event exhibits ranging from tabletop
displays to large-scale island exhibits. They came to Coridian looking
to streamline their printing processes. Their biggest challenge was
that they had a centralized printing room, which employees had to
walk to and from many times throughout the day, wasting valuable
productivity.
Solution
Coridian helped convert the company’s main facility form a centralized
printing room to distributed printing both in their production
areas and their main office. They went from using 5 large Zebra XI
Series printers to using more than 50 mid-sized Zebra ZM400
printers. Coridian also helped them create a custom, color coded
label with a removable adhesive. Having the labels remove easily was
important because after a display completed final assembly, they
didn’t want label residue left behind on the finished display.
Results
It was estimated that employees were walking to the central
printing area between 30 and 100 times per day, losing 15
minutes per trip in work time. Distributed printing will save the
company more than $100,000 in labor costs alone. The return
on investment (ROI) on the cost of printers was estimated at
just one year from time of purchase.
